Inline Network Monitoring With Minimal Disruption

Hardware bypass switching that keeps your tools in-path and gets out of the way when they fail.

The EtherShunt: Gigabit Bypass Switching

Inline network analysis shouldn't mean choosing between visibility and uptime. Commercial bypass taps cost thousands. DIY solutions with managed switches are fragile and slow to fail over.

The EtherShunt is a four-port gigabit Ethernet bypass switch that lets you transparently intercept traffic on any network segment. A configurable hardware fail-safe restores the direct link on power loss, and a watchdog timer catches host crashes. The network recovers even when you can't intervene.

  • Hardware fail-safe: power loss restores the direct link in milliseconds
  • USB-C serial control: one command to intercept, one to release
  • SET/UNSET transitions: brief link renegotiation (~1–3s), endpoints reconnect automatically
  • Zero network configuration changes required
